Am I eligible for CSBG/Self-Sufficiency services?

Participants must be:

  • A Wayne County resident
  • Income eligible based on the NC Poverty Guidelines for their household size (income is calculated using the total gross income for anyone living in the home who is related by blood, marriage and/or adoption)
  • Willing to obtain a High School diploma or GED
  • Willing to contractually agree to the goals of the program

Do I have to have children to qualify?

No. Single persons who are income eligible can qualify.

Is there a waiting list for acceptance?

Yes. However, applications are still being accepted. You cannot be considered for enrollment if you do not apply.

Do I have to be enrolled to attend the training sessions offered?

No. The CSBG/Self-Sufficiency trainings are open to the public.

Will the program give me money to pay my bills?

No. All approved financial payments are made payable directly to the service provider/vendor. Checks are never made payable to participants.

Will the program automatically pay my tuition, transportation, child care, light bill, etc.?

No. Services are provided as deemed necessary with justifiable documentation only with the approval of the program administrator based on the availability of funds.
