What are the eligibility requirements for Head Start/Early Head Start? Participants should be income eligible based on the poverty guidelines for their household size. The age limits are prenatal to 36 months for Early Head Start and 3-4 years old for Head Start. How do I apply for Head Start/Early Head Start? You must first complete an enrollment application. Click here to get more information and to download an application form. Is there a waiting list for acceptance? Yes. However, applications are still being accepted. When vacancies become available participants are taken from the waiting list. How do I check the status of my child's enrollment application? You can check the status of your child's application by contacting Jacqueline Hendrix at (919) 734-1178, ext. 286. What credentials are Head Start and Early Head Start teachers required to have? Head Start teachers must have a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field. Head Start teacher assistants must have a minimum of NC Child Care Credentials I and II or Preschool CDA. More At Four teachers are required to have a Bachelor's Degree and B-K License. More At Four teacher assistants are required to have an Associate's Degree in a related field or Preschool CDA. Early Head Start teachers must have an Infant/Toddler CDA and/or an Associate's Degree in a related field. What do I need in order to participate in a Substitute Teacher training? Individuals may come to our receptionist desk at the Main Office to obtain a Substitute Teacher Packet and complete the forms inside. These forms need to be returned on the day of the training.
