Wayne County First Steps

Established in 1996, Wayne County First Steps is a voluntary family support and home visiting program. Healthy families and healthy lifestyles are hallmarks of preventing child abuse and neglect and this is the ultimate aim of Wayne County First Steps. 

Through building a positive relationship with families, Wayne County First Steps social workers help families:

  • Improve the health of parents and children
  • Establish a medical home
  • Enhance bonding and attachment between parent and children
  • Build social support systems
  • Become connected to community resources 

Wayne County First Steps has been recognized as Wayne County's affiliate agency for Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina. Wayne County First Steps is also a member of Prevent Child Abuse America.
