WAGES

Senior Companions
The WAGES Senior Companions program provides volunteer opportunities for income eligible people age 60 and older.  Senior Companions assist frail elderly adults with disabilities to live more independently.  The volunteers provide companionship, personal care, home management, nutrition assistance, recreational activities and respite care.

Senior Companions serve in institutions and in home placements at 11 volunteer stations in Wayne County.

Benefits of becoming a Senior Companion:

  • Volunteer 20 hrs. per week (Mon. - Fri.)
  • An hourly stipend
  • Transportation allowance
  • Annual physical examinations
  • Accident/liability  insurance
  • Monthly in-service trainings
  • Cultural outings
  • Ongoing recognitions
