| The WAGES
Self-Sufficiency Project continues to help families in Wayne County move
towards self-sufficiency. The Self-Sufficiency Project has
been designed to eliminate the "band-aid" approach of service
provision.
The Project has an extensive track record of
successful collaboration and coordination with other public and private
agencies in Wayne County. Through such external collaborations and
internal collaborations, the Self-Sufficiency Project is able to provide
quality services to participants and significantly impact the battle
against poverty.
Participants in the Self-Sufficiency Project move
along a continuum of services that may include but are not limited to:
- Education opportunities
- Job training and job search
- Parenting
- Legal rights
- Job readiness
- Nutrition and personal health
- Self-Advocacy
- Self-Esteem building
- Crisis Intervention
- Housing and child-care
- Motivational Training
The Self-Sufficiency Project is funded through the
Community Services Block Grant. This grant is made through the NC
Department of Health and Human Services' Office
of Economic Opportunity.
