The WAGES Nutrition
Program for the elderly serves hot, nutritious meals daily across Wayne
County to citizens age 60 and older through
the Congregate Nutrition Program and the Meals on Wheels Program.
Congregate
Nutrition:
- Promotes the health and well-being of
elderly people
- Provides a nutritious meal each day
- Provides opportunities for health and
nutrition education; social and recreational activities; and other
recreational activities
- Provides service to
over 150 seniors daily at 3 nutrition sites located in Goldsboro
and Mt. Olive.
Meals on Wheels:
- Helps maintain and/or improve the health
of impaired elderly
- Provides a nutritious meal each day
- Enables homebound persons to remain in
their home as long as possible
- Provides a check on the homebound person
- Delivers a cheerful visit from a
volunteer each day
- Provides service to
over 390 homebound citizens daily in areas of Wayne County
with the greatest need
- Provides an excellent volunteer
opportunity for all ages to support the elderly in our community
